The urban fabric of Orestiada has its own green space, the pine grove of Orestiada, which consists of Adrianoupolis grove and Karagats grove. It is located between the railway station and the complex of Orestiada. This artificial and exurban grove is created in order to fulfill the needs of green space in the new town of Orestiada. These trees belong to the species of Pine trees(Pinus brutia) and they have been planted from 1926 to 1928. 1
The municipal refreshment hall at the heart of Adrianoupolis grove is worth visiting. It is an ideal place for relax and revitalization as well as a great chance to taste the local cuisine. By the side of the refreshment hall is a playground called “Alkioni” equipped with smart and creative installations that can definitely make children happy.
Significant events take place every summer in the surrounding area of the refreshment hall. The unique “Flower show” during May is one of the most significant trade events and attracts numerous visitors, professionals and amateurs of green space and flowers. A memorable walk during this show through this beautiful grove full of aroma can be combined with shopping regarding flower and garden products and supplies. Last but not least you should not miss a visit to the municipal outdoor theatre which is next to the refreshment hall and has a capacity audience of 1000. Plenty of theatrical performances and concerts as well as the renowned “National Festival of Amateur Theater” that takes place early in September is a genuine surprise for every visitor.
